Örebro: One of two top logistics sites in Sweden

It is with pleasure I receive the news that the region of Örebro has advanced from a solid second place to the number one position as the best logistics site in Sweden. We share this first place with the region of Gothenburg which have beckoned alone at the top for as many years as one can reckon. It calls for both afterthought and celebration.

This position of Örebro is according to the ranking made by industry magazine Intelligent Logistik which rates a number of criteria such as the volume of new warehouse space over the past year, access to infrastructure, the business climate, access to educated personnel and logistics research and education.

Thus, this number one ranking is the result of a combination of factors and of the systematic and persistent work and visions of many organisations, people and companies. It is truly a result of a network and a joint effort which I am equally proud of as of the ranking itself.

In fact, in my book, this capability to network, to mobilise and to collaborate is far more important than the first place in the ranking. Next year maybe Gothenburg have gotten its act together and is alone at the top. Or not. Either way. Örebro will keep on working on the path taken striving to be the number one choice for logistics organising and operations for any company or business organisation.

The recent launch of the Örebro University Research Center in Sustainable Logistics (ORULOG) is one example of this long-term commitment to excellence. The Railport Gothenburg – Hallsberg is another. The work by Business Region Örebro (BRO) and Region Örebro County is a third. The relentless work in companies to create efficient and sustainable logistics solutions to its customers is a forth. I want to extend my sincere thank you to all of you people who have contributed – and keep contributing – to this development. Nobody is an island and by utilising each other’s strengths we can make wonders. We are Örebro.

We are proud and happy for the first place in the rankings, but we never, ever stop working to improve. Onwards and upwards!
